Go sprock yourselves with a plasma rifle.
Seriously I saw that and literally said "fuck" out loud. And I don't curse at all. And if I do, it's rather tame and only written, rarely out loud.
So, to spite DC, here's a badly drawn doodle Trickster doing the YMCA. Done completely in Sharpie.

Here's a little footnote to the original doodle. I just wanted to separate it, thought I might use it for later...use. The little green treble clef is Piper and the little-ish blue T is Trickster.

I wasn't planning to update so soon. But I felt I had to, that I needed to.
Now, I really, really am skeptical that DC would do this. I really, really wish that they wouldn't. I highly doubt it. It's most likely a fake-out, something to rile up fans and boost sales.
I honestly have a hard time believing that Trickster will die anytime soon but still...
I just hate this whole thing DC is doing. Killing characters right and left. I honestly don't believe they'll stay dead for long.
Death in comics doesn't have a huge meaning in the first place. Charcters died, but most eventually came back years later.
What DC is doing is really cheapening what meaning death has left in comics by turning it into somewhat of a joke. I mean, really. Come on, DC. Death isn't good no matter what reality/world (real or comics) it is. DC is taking the meaning and the shock value, for the lack of a better phrase, out of theor character deaths.
To (mis)quote: DC's comics has turned into "Which character will die this issue," whenever I read the scans I find on the internet. I don't remember where I read it before, but I agree.
Warning: Watered-down, and possibly inaccurate, psychology ahead.
When it comes down to it, reality is subjective. Each person percieves their own reality as they shape it. They take their worldview from their surroundings. From their real-life experiences, what they heard from others, the media, etc.
DC is turning their comics to this "grim, gritty reality...like the real world." Well, if that's the real world, why would anyone want that in their comics? I tend to read to escape from the real world.
And, honestly, in a world filled with random people in brighly colored spandex, how "grim and gritty" could it be? Seriously? I kinda like the whole absurdness of it, I think that's sort of the whole point. I think that superhero comics should have some level of fun. A whole lotta fun, to be honest. The whole idea of a buch of guys and gals calling themselves funky names in form-fitting (sometimes impossibly so), brightly-colored spandex running around fighting bad guys and gals in brightly-colored (often not) spandex with equally funky names, is kinda unrealistic.
I got really into comics around the time Wonder Woman snapped Max Lord IV's neck. I've only been marginally interested in the whole super hero thing for a while. But I only watched the cartoons (Batman Beyond, Static Shock, the Batman Animated Series, and a bit of Justice League Unlimited), I never actually bought the comics until the Teen Titans cartoon.
Y'know, I once used to buy a lot of issues. I had Teen Titans, Nightwing, Flash, Jack of Fables (Vertigo), Robin, Justice Society of America (new one) and sometimes Batman/Superman, Batman, Detective Comics, All-Star Batman and Robin, other Bat titles, and some Superman titles if the storyline was interesting. Over the course of a year, I dropped the Flash (Bart's Run) for two issues, Nightwing and Teen Titans. I rarely bought any other titles becouse not much else was interesting. Most of this was because I was going to go to college, and the nearest comic store is about and 8 hour drive away. I have a subscription for JSA and the Flash and Robin. But, once my subscription for Robin is done, I'm not renewing it. I'm thinking of replacing that with Booster Gold, which I'm having my parents pick up for me. Bosster Gold and JSA are the only really interesting and good titles I'm picking up. The Flash isn't all that interesting and I'm not really reading it, but I'm still keeping with it in hopes of something good.
So, I'm reading, buying and enjoying: JSA, Booster Gold
Buying, but not reading and enjoying: Flash
Buying, reading, but not enjoying that much: Robin
I'm reading various scans online, mostly the Piper/Trickster storyline from Cowntdown. But I really don't count those.
So, my comics budget now goes to backissues and trades (or graphic novels). I've nearly completed the Post-Zero Hour Legion run (in backissues plus the only two trades fom that era). I'm working on Transmetropolitan (I only have vol. 1 & 3, but Christmas is coming). Ex Machina hasn't quite finished it's run (it'll have 50 issues and we're at about 30-ish), but I already have four of the six trades already out. And, possibly, Fables when I'm finished with Transmet.
I think I once had a point, but I kinda went off-track. I really don't want to clean this up because I really don't think it deserves it. (Not the rant or my standpoint on comic deaths, but the concept - if that makes sense.)
ETA: Long rant.
ETA2: Finished rant. I forsee more rant-like posts in my future. I've got two planned already.
